Nieuwe compositie voor CoMAMaastricht

Onze dirigent Mario Calzada heeft voor CoMAMaastricht de nieuwe compositie Common Ground geschreven.

Ter toelichting schrijft hij:

Common Ground explores improvisation as a space of freedom, listening and collective
imagination. The performers inhabit a shared musical territory in which every voice has the
potential to in:uence the whole. Individual gestures, ideas and identities remain distinct, yet
together they contribute to the creation of something that belongs to everyone.
In this sense, the piece re:ects on democracy: the possibility of imagining a world in which
different voices can coexist, express themselves and collectively shape a shared reality.
My experience of living and working in Maastricht—a city of encounters between cultures,
languages and perspectives—has profoundly shaped this work. Common Ground is
dedicated to CoMA Maastricht, whose openness and spirit of exploration have been an
essential source of inspiration.
At the heart of the piece is the belief that there are possibilities we can only discover when
we create together. Common Ground invites performers and listeners alike into this space of
uncertainty, where no single voice determines the outcome and where the unexpected can
become a starting point for new forms of connection.
