Goals

The goals of CoMAMaastricht are to:

• Enable amateur musicians of all ages and levels to experience, by active music making, how exciting playing and singing contemporary music can be
• Professionalise amateur musicians through collaboration with and coaching by professional contemporary music ensembles
• Encourage composers to write more often contemporary music for amateurs. This is done by, among other things, commissioning composers, offering live practice opportunities with the CoMAMaastricht Ensemble and organising composition contests
• Demonstrate the exciting challenges of contemporary music that exist for amateur musicians
• Connect and intensify contacts between amateur musicians and professionals from the contemporary music scene
• Establish a nation wide basis for future initiatives concerning the above mentioned goals
• Achieve an exchange between composers, musicians and those working in music education from the UK, other countries and The Netherlands, through collaboration with CoMA UK and others
